Firmness Scale

Compared with other online mattress companies, Brooklyn Bedding mattresses have more firmness scales, Casper, Tuft & Needle, Leesa only has one firmness. Loom & Leaf has two but it’s more expensive. Firm
Brooklyn mattress is even harder than they claimed in the official site. From before diagram, we can see it’s 8/10(10 is most firm), but from consumer real testing, it’s even harder. If you side sleepers, don’t choose the firm level. You can choose this model if you are
- Back and stomach sleepers, especially for the one with back or shoulder pain.
- Heavier individuals who like to stay on top of the mattress
- Need firmer support for a health concern or doctor’s order
- Likes the floating feeling instead of a sinking feeling.
Medium
I believe most people will choose this firmness scale, a medium mattress is suitable for the ones who don’t have fixed sleeping positions. Official site claims their firmness scale as 5-6 out of 10. But in my opinion, it should be 6-7/10 (10 is the most firm), choose medium firmness if you are
- Back, stomach, and side sleepers
- Couples who have different sleeping positions
- Sleepers who are not sure what they like
- Sleepers who change sleeping position often
Soft
As I mentioned before, Brooklyn mattress is much firm than they claimed. So the soft here maybe not as soft as you think. Official site claims it’s 2/10 (10 most firms), but I think it should be 3-4/10. A 300 pounds guy who is a side sleeper, feels good after he tried a soft model. Choose soft firmness if you are
- Sleeping on the side and sometimes stomach/back, especially for the totally side sleepers.
- Lighter individuals (under 150 pounds)
- Side sleepers having trouble with their arms falling asleep
- Like being hugged by the mattress and ultra-plush comfort

I was almost all set to pull the trigger on their #bestmattressever, but when I called to ask about the materials, and left messages on two separate occasions, they never called me back. The live chat rep I finally talked to then tried to mislead me, saying yes, the top talalay latex layer is “all natural materials.” When I clarified that that meant it’s 100% latex, she admitted that no, they use things like soy and ground seashells as filler. The bottom dunlop layer is more than half synthetic. Nowhere on the website is this specified, which I find misleading. So I posted a review to their website, because I think people deserve to know whether they’re sleeping on synthetic vs. natural latex, and quality of customer service is very important when spending this much money on a product you may need to return. THEY FILTERED MY REVIEW OUT. New 5-star reviews roll in every day, but the 2-star I wrote over a week ago is nowhere to be found. Emailed the manager asking what happened to my review, but (surprise surprise) I never heard back. Don’t trust this company – their “glowing” reviews aren’t accurate, and they are not transparent about materials used. I’ve just reported them to the BBB.
